Causes of arthritis are very different in many different types of arthritis. Several factors play a role in predisposing, ie their presence increases the risk of developing a type of arthritis, without evidence that it causes. Some of the most common cause of arthritis are:
- direct entry into the hollow of infectious agents (bacteria, viruses, fungi, tuberculosis mikobakteriy etc.)., including IDUs.
- trauma (as a cause of post traumatic arthritis and as a factor for faster development of wear of a joint), including the trauma of human or animal bites.
- ‘Wrong’ body’s immune response against known or unknown cause. Certain genes act as predisposing factors for the development of arthritis (eg rheumatoid arthritis, lupus in arthritis in reactive arthritis, etc.)
- defect in metabolism (eg gouty arthritis)
- hereditary factor: there are more frequent occurrence of certain types of arthritis (eg rheumatoid arthritis) in certain families, since heredity is determined by genetic information, it reconnects with certain genes (“units” of human hereditary information).
